Account Director

You will be responsible for providing overall leadership and direction to the agency/client relationship. To achieve this you will have a solid background in mid to senior-level marketing positions and demonstrated superior performance in account management and supervision.

So what’s different about this opportunity? Well, first off, we’re talking about an agency that’s been around for 25 years and has an average client tenture of 14 years – not bad! Now add to that the opportunity to work with some great clients and having a big hand in shaping and growing the business out of the Edmonton office.

Summary:  You will be responsible for providing overall leadership and direction to the agency/client relationship. To achieve this you will have a solid background in mid- to senior-level marketing positions and demonstrated superior performance in account management and supervision. A clear understanding of today’s marketing, digital and advertising business, whether it is paid, earned or owned media, as well as a keen sense of entrepreneurship are essential. So far so good?

Responsibilities (what we want):

  • Growing client relationships
  • Leading the planning, development and evaluation of client marketing activities.
  • Working with the VP/Managing Director to evaluate and mentor the performance, skills development and growth of the Edmonton account team
  • Reviewing campaign conceptual directions ensuring strategic marketing objectives remain in focus and support the overall brand strategy
  • Participating in client presentations at different stages of a project
  • Representing and interpreting clients’ overall needs and objectives within the agency
  • Ensuring that the clients’ visions and expectations are communicated internally
  • Reviewing estimates, quotes and unquoted invoices to ensure budget requirements are met and profitability maintained
  • Helping craft client strategy and following up on this strategy once implemented
  • Account team leadership and management, troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Seeking out new business opportunities and playing a leading role in their development
  • Monitoring accounts receivable and credit-worthiness of accounts
  • Ensuring that financial management of accounts meet agency standards
  • Participating in Agency/Client Performance Plan reviews

In summary:  Nurture client relationships, guide their projects to success by managing timelines, internal resources and external resources, and contribute your leadership skills and strategic thinking to the entire process.

Skills & Attributes (what you got):

  • Relevant post-secondary education with 7-10 years of marketing experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong questioning and listening skills, with an analytical mindset, business acumen, and creativity.
  • Ability to multi-task, handily managing a multitude of projects at any given time, while positively responding to the changing needs of the organization
  • Performance-based digital marketing experience (specifically focused on traffic and lead generation) and marketing automation.
  • Outgoing personality with outstanding, client service skills
  • Capable people manager, with team-building skills and mentoring abilities.
